The Emotional First Aid Team share a wealth of knowledge from their professional & personal experiences in CAMHS, Education and the Voluntary Sector and are able to offer tailor made training programmes to suit the needs of commissioning bodies.
All our courses will aim to break down a number of myths surrounding mental health and rather than focussing on a medical model of Mental Illness, concentrate on a social model of well-being equipping staff with the information and tools to assist children and young people experiencing mental health issues, rather than avoiding them or making inappropriate referrals into CAMHS services. This is more in line with the Coalition Government’s white paper No health without mental health, which defines mental health as being “Everyone’s business, – individuals, families, employers, educators and communities.”
We are able to deliver sessions on common Mental Health diagnoses which can include:
• An overview of the Mental Health Continuum
• Anxiety and Anxiety Management
• Self Harm
• Eating Disorders
• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
• Risk & Resilience
• Early Onset Psychosis
• Stress & Supervision
We are able to provide guest speakers with specialist subject knowledge which we hope will enable participants to gain a deeper understanding of each subject and provide greater awareness. We hope this will lead to increased confidence for participants supporting young people with these issues and greater understanding of the referral criteria into CAMHS services around these issues.
These courses may also be tailored to suit the needs of corporate services wishing to increase awareness and promote well-being for staff within the workplace.
