Welcome the new Basingstoke EFA Trainers!

photo 2The EFA Team are delighted to announce there are now 10 Trainers in Basingstoke who will begin delivering courses in the Basingstoke & Deane locality from September 2014.

A huge thanks to June Balcombe, Community Development Team Leader and Barbara Hudson Owen, Specialist CAMHS Team Leader, who submitted a bid to Public Health with the aim of delivering Emotional First Aid training to staff supporting Children & Young People in the local area.  Their hope is to increase confidence and capability in the universal services to enable staff to engage with children & young people experiencing early signs of emotional distress and help them overcome their difficulties before more severe problems develop.

A total of 10 delegates were successful in applying for the course and all are now dual qualified to deliver both Primary & Young Person EFA courses.

The trainers are from a variety of organisations encompassing Education; Health; Social Care and the Voluntary Sector.  The group will be meeting regularly to develop a strategy group for the roll-out of Emotional First Aid training in Basingstoke & Deane and we hope to begin advertising their courses soon.
